New technological innovations are coming up every day and this has made it necessary for internet entrepreneurs to think ahead so as to adapt to the changing technological times. The need to adapt to changing times has led to the birth if internet seminars. Some are held annually, others bi-annually and yet again others are held every so often. Despite the growing number of such seminars that are meant to help online marketers, entrepreneurs and programmers to think further and alike, none of them compares to the World Wide Web seminar and in specific the recently concluded World wide web 2012 Lyon – France. As the name states, the World wide web 2012 Lyon – France was this year held in Lyon, France and took place from 16th April to 20th April.

The World wide web 2012 Lyon – France, was attended by past as well as present internet gurus who addressed various issues regarding how to cope with and merge with the dynamic online world. Among the key issues discussed in the World wide web 2012 Lyon – France included the role, rise and popularity of social media. It’s no secret that social media in today’s world has played and still continues to play an important role be it in issues pertaining to governance, well being or even disease awareness. Social media has been given more powers in the 21st century than ever before though some times this power is misused by a given few to carry out their personal vendettas. The World wide web 2012 Lyon – France was a thrilling, educative and social experience to everyone who attended and the information and advice derived from the key speakers on various technlological and online issues was simply priceless.

It’s rare to see Google, Yahoo and Microsoft team up over anything, but they have recently teamed up with the Schema.org video markup code. Since the major search engines support it, everyone is scrambling to have these markup methods included in their websites, but few people seem to really know what it does. Some people are even excluding all other video markup in lieu of exclusively using Schema.org’s code. Find out what the code is for and how to properly use it.

Schema.org is Not a Sitemap
Sitemap’s are used so that search engine spiders know what new content is on your website, and it helps to index new pages. Constantly updating your sitemap can help Google, Yahoo and Bing find your new pages, giving you a better chance of attracting more visitors.

Some people seem think that Schema.org’s video markup is a type of sitemap, but it isn’t. According to Google workers and many Internet marketing gurus, you should keep your sitemap, and you should keep updating it. Schema.org does not interfere with your sitemap, and the two should be used on your website at the same time.

Does Not Affect MRSS Feeds
Another thing that many people confuse Schema.org’s video markup for is another MRSS aggregator. Much like the sitemap, Schema.org does not have this functionality, nor does it interfere with MRSS functions. This means you can, and should, continue to use MRSS to syndicate your content.

The truth is, Schema.org has nothing to do with syndication. The video markup coding affects your search engine performance.

Better Search Results
The problem with a sitemap is that it can only tell search engines where the video is. However, the sitemap alone cannot tell search engines what the video is about. This is where Schema.org shines. The video markup code tells the search engines spiders exactly what can be expected from the videos.

For example, you can enter the duration of the video and a description. Spiders will report this back to their respective search engines, and the search engines will show those results when someone searches for a similar keyword. While Schema.org doesn’t help index pages, it does help get relevant traffic.

Technical Stats
Another use of Schema.org is to list the technical stats of your video. With this video markup, you can easily list the type of player needed to play the video, and you can list the file type.
While this may not seem useful for broad searches, this can help when someone is searching specifically for a Flash or MP4 type of video.

Conclusion
While there are some limitations to the Schema.org video markup, it does help with search engine markup, and it should be implemented on your website. Try it out, and see how it can help your videos gain relevant traffic.

Every business faces risk, and far too many fail to take the simplest steps to it. Mitigating risk can be as easy as basing every business decision you make on reality. It makes no sense to guess what goods and services people need. Instead, ensure that there is actually a market before production begins. That kind of attention to the facts will allow your business to grow.

While researching, you want to make sure any answers you uncover provide true, objective insight into your customers’ needs and desires. You could use traditional methods such as conducting a survey or focus group, but that’s not the place to start. Surveys have low response rates, and those interested enough to fill one out often skew the results Focus groups are not much better. A charismatic participant can sway the opinions of others, resulting in findings that do not reflect market realities. A better method is to turn to freely available tools that analyze web traffic and searching habits.

Start with Google Insights for Search. Provide the service with keywords related to your product and it will analyze how often people search those terms. Results show you how the keywords have performed over time as well as by region. Use Google Analytics to understand who is coming to your website, when they are visiting, and what they are doing. This kind of information provides you with a true picture of your market, allowing you to minimal business risk. Follow-up with qualitative research by using social media to talk directly with your customers about your product or idea. Their unvarnished feedback, along with your web analysis, will ensure that you have the information needed to make fact-based decisions. There is no better way to grow your business.
